2008 Barking Mad Riesling

Crisp, clean and fruity - our Barking Mad Riesling has received rave reviews!

Premium fruit has been hand picked from our St Clare Vineyard at Watervale where the elevation and soil is perfect for growing Riesling, giving the wine mineral characteristics.

This Riesling displays floral characteristics with citrus and hints of honeysuckle, and the soft acidity enhances the freshness of the flavours.

88 Points - "Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar", Issue#140, Sept/Oct 2008
"Light green-gold. Pungent pear and apple aromas are underscored by dusty mineral and white flowers. Juicy and pliant, with open-knit orchard fruit and melon flavors and a subtle citrus note on the back. Softer than most Clare rieslings, with good finishing sweetness."

90 Points - "The Advertiser", August 2008
"Showing a softer floral side to its aromas, though thoroughly lime and lemon in its fruit profile with a delicate acidity in the mouth, this has a lovely presence on the middle palate and gives quite a bit of wine for this bargain price. Open the oysters!"

4 Stars - "The Age Epicure", July 2008
"You have to be barking mad to open a vineyard, or so the wisdom goes. This aptly named Clare Valley Riesling has a lightly scented, floral aroma that leads to suggestions of apple juice, lime and rusty steel. It needs food to show its best but finishes with persistence. Ageing? One to four years. Food Ideas: Tempura, Vietnamese spring rolls with green leaves and herbs."

89 points - The Wine Spectator, USA
"Dry and steely with bracing lime, lime flowers and green pear character, finishing with focus and length. Needs seafood. Drink now through to 2015."

2008 Barking Mad Cabernet Sauvignon

2008 Barking Mad Cabernet Sauvignon

Hand picked at optimal ripeness, this is a classic Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon!

Sourced from low yeilding, partially irrigated vines in our St Clare Vineyard, the wine was open fermented before maturing in French Oak Hogsheads for 10 months.

It displays rich sweet fruit flavours with ripe berry and mint overtones, and has sweet vanilla oak giving it richness and length.

The Adelaide Review Hot 100 South Australian Wines 2009/10
"For a hand-picked Cabernet which has spent time in French oak, this wine from Reilly's is very competitively priced. Both Tom and Louise noted blue fruits (a little 'porty' in style for Andrew) and all our tasters like the generous tannins and soft, drinkable balance of the wine (with a touch of residual sugar)"

2007 Barking Mad Shiraz

2007 Barking Mad Shiraz

Our Barking Mad Shiraz is rich and full bodied!

Sourced from our St Clare Vineyard, this wine has been open fermented before maturing in a combination of American and French Hogsheads for 14 months.

On the palate it displays spicy oak with supple round sweet fruit which is enhanced by soft tannins resulting in a rich, mouth filling wine.

88 Points - Michael Franz, Wine Review Online, January 2009
"A very tasty wine with an amusing label (just in case you care about such things). Although the wine is on the juicy/chunky side of the spectrum, it offers very pleasant flavors of red raspberry and dark cherry with a little peppery bite in the finish. There's just enough tannin and acidity to keep this seeming focused and defined, so this is certainly a candidate for near-term drinking."
